This is the second presentation for the first annual GJC Convention (Spanish GYC) held at Andrews University. The presenter here is Pr. Gerson Gomez. He spoke on the importance of making the best use of time in preparation for Jesus’ second coming. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this for air due to the following: 1. His presentation is mainly directed to a local SDA church audience. He resorts to the use of certain lingo common particularly to Adventists. Below are some examples: a. (Please note that the presenter is not fluent in the Spanish vernacular, thus the poor syntax.) Also note that his topic is not on prophecy. He mentioned this while referring to the state of affairs around us that tell us that Jesus’ second coming is at hand. b. At 13:13-20 after listing a number of blatant sins to identify the moral decay in our society he states the following: “…El aumento del poder de las igleisias protestantes en este país.” c. This statement leads to believe that we attain salvation through our efforts, by works. It’s a trademark phrase used by those who purport that we must achieve a certain plateau of perfection in order to attain salvation. This is not biblical concept. d. Again, this is not in context with his presentation and is strictly Adventist jargon. Not suitable for our audience worldwide. He again mentions this same thing at 42:19 – 30. Lastly, the motivator behind this message is fear, not the love of Christ that constrains us. The speaker dedicated the first 38 minutes of his presentation to speak on judgment and only 1 minute 20 seconds to speak on Christ. NOT APPROVED.
