At 18:26 minutes the following statement is made, “In Eden death passed on all of us for two reasons; First, as 1 Corinthians 15:32 says, ‘We too sinned there in Adam.’” First, it should be noted that 1 Corinthians 15:22 does not say, “We too sinned there in Adam.” It says, “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” The word “in” in Greek is “en” which can be translated as “by or through.” This is saying that “by” Adams sin his offspring were restricted from having eternal life or access to the tree of life, (not by our sin). It also says that “by” Christ’s righteousness access to life is restored, (not by our righteousness). Support for this is found in the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary Volume 6 Pages 804 & 805. The statement “We too sinned there in Adam,” makes it sound as though we too were there and we too sinned. While one could say we too were there in Adams DNA, we were however, not conscious, therefore we have no responsibility in Adams personal sin. Support for this is found in scripture. Jas 4:17 “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” While we were affected by Adams sin, we were not responsible for Adams sin. You must be able to “know” you are sinning in order to choose to commit sin. While it is true that Adam’s weakened, sinful nature with a propensity or inclination to sin was passed on to his children through heredity, the guilt of Adam’s sin remained his alone. Ezekiel 18:20 “The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son.” We are recommending that this statement be edited before airing to prevent confusing the viewers. We need to remind you that our guidelines set a limit of up to three minutes of promotional time for a half hour program and five minutes for a one-hour program. This half hour program exceeds our allowance by one minute. 3ABN wants to focus on the simple presentation of the Gospel and the Gospel work and wishes to avoid appearing too promotional. We appreciate your effort in helping us to maintain our standards.
